      * The Jawa name was resurrected in the Indian market recently by Mahindra owned, Classic Legends. It showcased motorcycles replicating the past, running in the present and the company's prowess of the future. And for the future, there is the Jawa Perak. Although the name is derived from a Czech town, it is also likely to be the name of one of Spock's crew members; again, futuristic.

     * Nevertheless, Jawa announced the price of the Perak at the launch of the Jawa and Jawa Forty Two and is bound to arrive in the market sometime next year. So, what can we expect from the Jawa Perak?

#  DESIGN

The people at the Perak's design table seemed to be inspired by bobber motorcycles of the late 70's and 80's. While the Perak looks like the standard bike upto its mid-section, it is a completely different motorcycle thereon. It gets a new sub-frame and a single 'floating' seat with a monoshock hidden underneath for a old-school, hardtail look.

Furthermore, the Perak gets all blacked-out components that make it look modern and in tune with custom motorcycles. To add to its custom motorcycle appeal, Jawa has fitted the tail lamp on the seat and turn indicators on either side of the rear fender.

# ENGINE

Apart from its highly appealing and distinctive looks, the Jawa Perak gets a new heart; a 334cc,single-cylinder engine in place of the standard bike's 293cc motor. This unit also produces a higher 30bhp and 31Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed gearbox. It also gets different exhaust pipes that exude a custom-motorcycle look.

# CYCLE PARTS

The Perak rides on conventional telescopic forks at the front like its other siblings but gets a monoshock at the rear. Braking duties on the front are also similar to the Jawa and Forty Two with a single disc brake. However, the Perak also gets a rear disc brake and a dual-channel ABS unit.

# PRICE

Jawa has priced the Perak at Rs 1.89 lakhs. That is Rs 25,000 over the standard Jawa which is priced at Rs 1.64 lakhs (All prices ex-showroom). Being a bobber-styled motorcycle, the Perak does not have direct competition however in terms of pricing it does compete against the Royal Enfield Classic 500 and UM Renegade Commando and Mojave.
