Triumph Speed Twin could launch in India next year

# highlights

Triumph is working on a street-fighter version based on the Thruxton R. And it will be called the Speed Twin, a model name that was re-registered by Triumph not too long ago. While the official media site of Triumph has still not released images of the 2019 Speed Twin, the British motorcycle manufacturer has already showcased the motorcycle to a select few. The 2019 Triumph Speed Twin makes use of the 1,200cc motor which is also offered in the 1,200 Scrambler, Bonneville Bobber, Thruxton R and the T120. Triumph will be officially debuting the Speed Twin on December 4. Triumph India has not officially disclosed any information on the 2019 Speed Twin but then we at OVERDRIVE have learnt from our sources that the Triumph might be looking at launching this retro modern offering in India by mid 2019.

It is being said that the 1,200cc engine that will be offered on the 2019 Triumph Speed Twin will produce 96PS and generate around 112Nm of torque. Similar to the Scrambler 1200, the 2019 Triumph Speed Twin too will get multiple ride modes along with quickshifter and other electronic aids. Additionally, it will get a retro styled cluster but with a modern digital interface, something that we have seen on the Scrambler 1200. In terms of styling, the 2019 Triumph Speed Twin does look similar to the Thruxton R sans the clip-ons. Also, this is the first offering in the Bonneville range to not get spoke wheels but multi-spoke alloys. The safety bit will be taken care of by traction control and dual-channel ABS. More details about the motorcycle will be released on December 4, 2018.
